Jungle Camp
The Marangdut Jungle Camp is Bhutan’s first true jungle camp located near the sub-tropical forests of Royal Manas National Park. Situated next to the Marangdut tributary of the Drangme river, it comprises eight tented camps with comfortable and spacious individual tents for sleeping, modern bathroom and shower facilities, and a common dining area. All the structures are covered with thatched roof made in the traditional Khengpa style. In fact, old villagers from nearby Marangdut village helped us out with the traditional thatched roofing, a craft that has almost disappeared as corrugated iron sheet roofing has replaced thatch lately. The nearby forests and stream provide ample opportunities for a pleasant hike or a cool dip in the water. When in season, our kitchen staff will be most happy to make traditional delicacies out of local resources such as wild banana flowers, bamboo shoots and edible orchids and ferns. We also source our vegetables and food items locally where possible.
